2005-XX Odds and Ends

National Space Centre Leicester

A soyuz space capsule as in use today. It is tiny!

The seat that Helen Sharman went into space in and a copy of her space suit. I would have thought she was way too tall to fit into it!

The all important space toilet.

Soyuz from upstairs - the lighting makes it look more googly.

1:1 scale model of Orion-I tellecoms satellite.

Giotto - The European Space Agency exploration that flew through the tail of Halley's Comet in 1986 and then in an extension of the mission through the tail of comet Grigg-Skjelleup in 1992.

Another shot of the front of the centre. You can just see the two part of the Blue Streak rocket.

Ellen MacArthur waves to the crowds on the edge of the river during B&Q's trip up the Thames after her World record briaking trip around the world.

Ellen MacArthur's B&Q at Greenwich on the Thames.

Some other people getting in on the act!

Ellen MacArthur giving her talk at Greenwich

B&Q moored in the Thames.

Ellen MacArthurs team at work getting ready for the return trip. While she does her publicity bit on shore.

Time for a chinwag!

The curvey bridge at Canary Warf. This does not really show its beauty.

Stansted Windmill - I heard they are collecting to get it back in working order. In our day it was money for the sails.

A view of Stansted castle with the old Golf House in the background that is now a toy museum.

Stansted Mountfitchet Castle

The fish pond(for food) at the castle.

Another view. Note the farmers field devoid of grass in the background. The farmer of 30 years ago did the same thing to those fields.

More of the Castle with Gernon's Gate's trees in the background.

This chap thought I was a real friend and followed me all round the castle.

The Lord and Master of the castle!

This bit of stone looks really small now. As a kid it seemed huge when we climbed on top and through the hole.

Entrance to the Castle.

The old May tree. I was surprised to see this still standing. As kids we used to eat the leaves when it first burst into leaf in the spring. Something about a bit of bread and no cheese.

A sneak shot of the old family home. It is now called the Moat House. It is a real shame that the old church door that was the front door has been replaced. That old door was really old and solid.

We used to play tennis here in our time at Gernon's Gate.

The Old St Mary's primary school at Stansted. It has not changed much since my day and is now used as a Youth Centre.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - The world debut of the Marcos TSO GT2, it looked great!

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - The Corvette C6.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Ok it is a Ferrari bernetta, a V8 4 litre 490hp beaut.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - This 2002 Williams F1 race car was interesting. There is a lot that you see in the flesh that never comes over on film. The aerodynamics around the front wheels was amazing. Also the man in charge said that the car only weighed 90kgs without the engine. It was not clear if this included the wheels or not.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Rear of the Pagani Zonda. Can I have one of these please in my next Christmas stocking!

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Another shot of the Pagani Zonda.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Ok could not resist at least one Lotus, this being the Exige.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Under the 'bonnet' of the Gardner Douglas T70.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - The Gardner Douglas T70 from the front.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Audi racing Car, wow...

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Rear view of the Audi racer.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Worth going to the show just to see this the Ford GT, modelled on the classic Ford GT 40. Could not find out how much over the 40 inches high the new one is.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - The Ford GT was the star of the show in my eayes even if the photos were marred by a little rain.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - The landrover experience. Members of the public being subjected to a handling experience.

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Who needs 4 wheels!

Canary Wharf London Motoexpo show 2005 - Front or back it does not matter.
